About us

Rooted by the harbour for thirty years

We started as a handful of neighbours with a kettle and a borrowed hall. Today more than a thousand members run festivals, clubs, a food bank and a radio station.

Everything we do is decided by members and delivered by volunteers, so every hour you give stays right here in Harbourside.

What members say

Don’t take our word for it: here is what being part of Harbourside means to the people who make it happen.

  • I moved here knowing nobody. Within a month I had friends, a garden plot and a reason to get up on Saturday mornings.

    Ama OwusuMember and trustee
  • The food bank volunteers treated my family with such kindness when we needed it most. Now I help on Thursdays myself.

    Joseph AdeyemiVolunteer, then secretary
  • Our pupils’ storytelling sessions in the park are the highlight of their week. Professional, warm and always ready to help.

    Seaview SchoolPartner school
  • The festival is the best day of the year. Thirty stalls, a brass band and the whole street out together.
